It is our mission to provide a resource and establish a community which together will empower occupational therapy practitioners, students and researchers to consider, identify and address sleep and sleep problems.
Our aims:
- To promote the importance of consideration of sleep in OT assessment.
o Raising awareness of the importance of sleep for health and well-being, and the relationships between sleep and occupation.
- To promote the role of the OT in relation to the treatment of sleep problems.
o Making therapists aware that they can help with sleep problems, and how.
- To share knowledge about sleep relevant to occupational therapy, to enhance practice and research.
o Raising standards in the treatment of sleep disorders by OTs.
o Promoting the inclusion of the topic of sleep and sleep problems in occupational therapy training.
o Supporting informed practice.
- To encourage inter-professional and inter-disciplinary collaboration to enhance practice and research in relation to sleep and occupational therapy.
